What is Pool Coping?

Coping (also called edging or cantilever) is the perimeter edge of the pool, generally made of stone, ceramic, or concrete, that delimits the boundary between the water and the terrace. Installing LEDs under coping creates an elegant "floating" effect of the pool.

Required Tools

Drill

Diamond bit

Tape measure

Wrench

You will also need: neutral silicone resistant to water, stainless steel clamps, submersible electrical cable, waterproof junction box, and aluminum profile to protect the LED strip.

Step 1: Planning and Measuring

1

Perimeter Measurement

Precisely measure the total perimeter of the pool where you will install LEDs. Add an extra 10% for unions and waste. Also plan the location of:

Safety Precaution

All electrical installation must comply with the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations. If you don't have experience with electrical installations, hire a professional electrician.

Step 2: Channel Preparation

2

Channel Cutting

With the help of a professional (pool builder or mason), make a channel of approximately 15-20mm deep under the coping edge. The width must be sufficient to accommodate:

Step 3: Profile and LED Strip Installation

3

Aluminum Profile Placement

The aluminum profile serves three essential functions:

Fix the profile with neutral silicone resistant to water. Make sure it is perfectly level for uniform light distribution.

Professional Tip

For a smoother, more continuous effect, use a corner profile (45°) that directs light toward the water at an angle, rather than the flat profile that directs light downward.

Step 4: Electrical Connection

Wiring and Connections

Electrical connection requires special attention:

Step 5: Sealing and Finishing

Final Finishes

Once functionality is verified:

Test Before Sealing

Connect and test all colors and controller effects before permanent sealing. It's much easier to make adjustments without sealing.
